Hey, I’m Ayoub, a computer science student at Xidian University, currently heading into my junior year. My coursework has covered a wide range of CS fundamentals (networking, computer architecture, data structures and algorithms), but cybersecurity is the direction I’m actually chasing.
Patch Notes is where I document that chase, honestly, and in real time.
I’m not waiting until I’ve “made it” to start writing. Most technical blogs you find online are written by people who already have the answers. This one is different: it’s a running log of what I’m learning, what’s breaking, what’s clicking, and what isn’t.
Why public? A few reasons:
- Accountability. Writing things down and putting them somewhere visible keeps me honest about actually doing the work.
- Documentation. A lot of what I learn (labs, tools, concepts) is easier to understand a second time if I’ve written my own notes on it the first time.
- The long game. I’m planning to pursue a Master’s degree after finishing my CS studies, with cybersecurity as my focus. This blog is part resume, part proof of work, a record that shows how I think and how I’ve grown, not just a polished list of credentials.
If you’re early in your own security journey, hopefully some of this is useful, or at least it’s good company to know someone else is figuring it out too, one patch at a time.
